Key Applications of Dextran Iron in the Pig Farming Industry

In the pig farming industry, ensuring the healthy growth and efficient output of pigs has always been the core focus of farmers. Dextran iron, as an extremely important iron supplement, is increasingly highlighting its key role in pig farming practice.
The "weapon" to prevent iron deficiency anemia in piglets
Newborn piglets face a severe iron deficiency challenge. The iron reserves obtained from the mother can only meet the needs for 3 to 5 days after birth, and the iron content in breast milk is only 1 to 3 milligrams per liter, which is far from enough to meet the piglets' daily growth requirement of 8 to 10 milligrams. Iron deficiency makes piglets highly susceptible to iron deficiency anemia, showing symptoms such as lethargy, loss of appetite, and slow growth, which can be life-threatening in severe cases.
Dextran iron injection has become an effective means to address this problem. Extensive pig farming practice shows that injecting dextran iron injection at a standard dose within 3 to 5 days after piglets are born can significantly reduce the incidence of iron deficiency anemia. Data from a large-scale pig farm show that before using this injection, the incidence of iron deficiency anemia in piglets was over 30%, but after use, this rate dropped sharply to less than 5%. Moreover, the survival rate of piglets increased by 8% to 10%, growth rate accelerated significantly, and the average time to market was shortened by 7 to 10 days compared to before. This is because dextran iron, as an organic iron preparation, is rapidly absorbed by the piglets' bodies after injection, quickly replenishing iron reserves, laying a solid foundation for intestinal development and immune system construction, preventing iron deficiency anemia from the source, and ensuring the healthy growth of piglets.
The "booster" to improve farming efficiency
For pig farmers, farming efficiency is a key indicator to measure farming success. Dextran iron plays an important role in improving farming efficiency. Healthy piglets mean higher survival rates and better growth performance. By effectively preventing iron deficiency anemia, piglets grow more smoothly, reducing growth stagnation and death losses caused by diseases, directly lowering farming costs. At the same time, the shortened time to market accelerates the capital turnover cycle, allowing more batches of farming within the same period, greatly improving farming efficiency and increasing farming profits.
Taking a medium-sized pig farm as an example, after the reasonable use of dextran iron, the annual number of piglets marketed increased by 10% compared to before, and the farming cost per piglet decreased by about 50 yuan. Overall, the annual farming efficiency improved by hundreds of thousands of yuan. In addition, healthy growing piglets can better convert feed nutrients during the subsequent fattening stage, improving feed conversion rates, further increasing farming profit margins, becoming a powerful "booster" for improving farming efficiency in the pig farming industry.
